Updates & Innovation at the Clark County School District

With school back in session we'll hear from CCSD Chief Communications Officer Tod Story and Astrid Silva, Director for the newly created UNIFY Program (Undocumented & Immigrant Family & Youth). 

Mr. Story was a longtime Congressional District Director to Congresswoman Shelley Berkley. He also served as the Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada. His position is responsible for leading the continued implementation of Focus: 2024, the District’s ambitious, five-year strategic plan. As part of its parent and community support priority, Focus: 2024 seeks to improve District communications and outreach, increase strategic media partnerships to celebrate student and employee successes, and grow the media presence of the District locally and across the country.

Ms. Silva will speak about the program delivering training for immigrant and undocumented students and families, schools, and the community, both locally and at the national level. The UNIFY Program is the first of its kind in the nation. Ms. Silva is a DREAMer and the co-founder and Executive Director of DREAM Big Nevada which aims to provide aid to Nevada’s immigrant families through direct services and by empowering community members to advocate for themselves and others in similar situations. She has been an immigration activist since 2009 and has since become a well-known speaker on both the local and national stages.
