About the Event

May is Asian-American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and we are pleased and honored to have former Women's Demo President and Community Leader Rozita Lee as our speaker. Tita Rozita (as she is known to many Filipinos) is a go-to person who helps solve issues concerning the local Filipino-American community. She is also tapped by mainstream groups, including the media, who want to reach out to Filipino-Americans in the area. Her advisory positions in numerous local and national Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) organizations, meanwhile, are evidence of how her views are valued by the majority.

She was the 2013 recipient of the Jean Ford Award for Participatory Democracy, and has received similar commendations from elected officials, and numerous others from local and national organizations due to her tireless advocacy.
